I’m currently touring the Highland’s of Scotland with the play The Captain’s Collection by Hamish Macdonald. Currently I’m back in the States touring with The StepCrew. I’m spending quite a lot of time this side of the pond. I enjoy it! Seeing new places and meetin new people and playing in some fantastic venues with the Crew. Today I am in LaCrosse, Winconsin and am sitting looking at the Mississippi, having spent a fun few days in Rochford& Bloomington, Illinois. It’s a quick trip as I’ll b home Saturday and starting rehearsals for The Captain’s Collection Scottish tour next Monday. The dates are here on this site. That means a month in Scotland – woo hoo! If you are here or there…let me know.

The Letterman Show

The Chieftain’s 50th Anniversary tour of the States was quite a trip. Visited one or two States I’d not been to before, travelling West to East from California to New York and made a few new friends on the way. Some of which are the great American indie band from Providence, Rhode Island – The Low Anthem. I love Ben’s voice. They played two gigs with us, one for WGBH radio in Boston and the other in the Carnegie Hall St Particks Day – that was quite an event – there were 50 Breton pipers and dancers and 50 Highland pipers and drummers too! Pretty memorable, but the one I think I most enjoyed was playing The David Letterman show live in New York. The Low Anthem are super nice guys & girl, I love their sound and the Letterman show was a blast. I even bumped into Cee Lo Green. I wonder what the UK tour will have in store for us?

…posting comments and thoughts about the gigs here in America – thank you. Keep them coming it’s always good to get feedback. Truth is we’re having a ball and in addition to that the album ‘Voices of Ages’ is currently No.1 in the World Music charts& No.12 in the pop music charts. 2 weeks to go – don’t want it to pass too fast.

Currently I’m midway through a tour with The StepCrew visiting more cities in America that I’ve not seen before. It’s always enlightening. We’ve had 3 great gigs and it’s the first time the Crew have been to California. I think they like us. At the end of this week I and some of the dancers from the Crew will be going on to join The Chieftains on their 50th Anniversary tour. It’s going to be an exciting few weeks. Celtic Connections for The Captain

I have been head down in script for the past few weeks so have neglected to write for a while but happy to say that we are opening tonight at Celtic Connections at The Tron Theatre in Glasgow with ‘The Captain’s Collection’ a play written by Hamish Macdonald. It’s been a lot of hard work but plenty of fun too and I have to say I am fair excited. Matthew Zajac and I are acting and we are ably supported by the beautiful playing of Ingrid Henderson on Harp and Piano and Jonny Hardie on Fiddle, and of course our creative and production teams guided by Director Alison Peebles. It’s going to be a fun few days and then we hit the road again in May. Will post those dates soon. For more Celtic Connections details click here

I’ve been a busy bee and have uploaded mp3 players that offer you the option to listen to all the albums available for sale on this site. There are 9 albums for sale to date with a new one just listed – Open Secrets – recorded with members of the Global Music Foundation resulting in a rather bonnie version of ‘She moved through the fair’ amongst other treats.
