Last year Alyth McCormack was already in the clef and you could have heard the pin drop, despite the busy pub. The audience listened breathlessly. And that's why Alyth McCormack is playing with us again this year on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 8 p.m.

Ályth McCormack is one of the leading Scottish interpreters of Gaelic songs, she is also an actress and - last but not least - the singer of the "Chieftains", one of the world's best-known Irish folk bands. With the "Chieftains" she performs in large halls in front of thousands of people, because the band has cult status and is always enthusiastically applauded. Thoroughbred folk singers like Ályth McCormack are always drawn back to the small stages, where you can communicate directly with the audience and absorb the mood. This intimacy is important to Ályth and actually indispensable for her new main theme. They are songs that touch you, that get under your skin, that have a message. “My album and program Homelands,” she says, “is about love and loss, homeland and emigration. It is rooted in both love for my home island of Lewis, Scotland, and love for my new home, Ireland. But somehow we are all travelers too: migrants, emigrants, immigrants.”

With beautiful songs in Gaelic and English, Ályth McCormack illuminates this interesting topic and touches the listener with her expressive singing voice and the detailed explanations of the respective songs. She enters into a calm dialogue with her audience and thus creates a very special atmosphere. She is supported by Triona Marshall (not like last year with Niamh O'Brien), a top-class Irish harpist. Triona is the harpist of the Irish cult band The Chieftains.
